Philanthropy and Community Involvement
SMART-TD Golf Outing
SMART-TD Locals 0445 and 0195 put on a golf outing in Galesburg, IL. They partnered with WMOI 97.7 to raise over $3,700 for local food banks. FISH of Galesburg and the Jamieson Community Center food pantry were the recipients of the proceeds. 21 local businesses helped sponsor the event as well. The outing was held at Bunker Links and food was provided by the Packinghouse Dining Restaurant. Thousands of dollars were raised as over 84 railroad workers and community members enjoyed 18 holes of fun.

Members of Local 0445 and WMOI teamed up to raise money and food for FISH, the Galesburg Food Pantry, Roseville Helping Hands Food Pantry and the Jamieson Community Center Food Pantry. Scott Lester, Martin Bobrowski, Beau Trego and Wes Ekstedt helped collect.

In Ft. Madison, $858.35 and 401lbs of food were collected for the Ft. Madison Food Pantry. UFCW Local 617 out of Ft. Madison gave a donation of $500.00 which was very much appreciated by the Ft. Madison Food Pantry.

In Galesburg, $290.00 and 250lbs of food were collected for the FISH Food Pantry. The HyVee on Main St. welcomed members in on a busy holiday season. Jack Girard, Jordan Boone and Wes Ekstedt helped collect.
Fundraiser
Abingdon, IL 12/23/21
Local 0445 member Mike Rankin otherwise known as Santa, donated his time to meet with children in Abingdon, IL. Members and wives of members baked treats such as pies and cookies to sell as well. The local also raffled off a basket of holiday goodies. All $2,600 raised went to the Klockenga family for help with medical bills. All 0445 brothers and sisters hope for a full recovery for brother Todd Klockenga.
On April 26th, 2022 SMART-TD Local 0445 held a food drive to raise money and collect food for the Galesburg, IL food pantry FISH. Scott Lester, Jack Girard, Jordan Boone, Marty Bobrowski and Mike McNeal collected 189 lbs of food and $833.92 at the HyVee on Henderson Street in Galesburg.

A special thanks to the managers and employees of HyVee who have been very generous in our ability to help out our local community.
In June of 2022 and 2023, SMART-TD Local 0445 sponsored a hole for the Galesburg Firefighters Golf Tournament. Beau Trego, Corey McKeown, Jordan Boone, Derrick McCurry, Scott Lester, Luke Sperry and Marty Bobrowski attended the outing to support our brothers and sisters in IAEF Local 555.
